つ (tsu)
Cách phát âm
Ký tự つ đại diện cho âm tiết 'tsu', âm 'ts' theo sau bởi 'u'. Âm 'ts' tương tự như 'ts' trong 'cats' hoặc 'pizza'. Lưu ý: nó KHÔNG được phát âm là 'tu' — trong tiếng Nhật chuẩn không có âm 'tu'. Thuộc hàng た. Phiên bản nhỏ っ là sokuon, dùng để gấp đôi phụ âm.

つ được viết bằng một nét. Bắt đầu ở trên cùng bên trái, vẽ một đường cong mượt mà uốn qua đỉnh ký tự, rồi cong xuống và quay lại phía dưới bên trái, tạo thành hình giống chữ 'U' lộn ngược hoặc chữ 'C' cách điệu mở sang phải. Giữ đường cong mượt mà và đáy hơi mở.
