Ký tự た đại diện cho âm tiết 'ta', âm 't' cứng theo sau bởi 'a' như trong 'father'. Đây là ký tự đầu tiên của hàng た. Âm 't' không bật hơi — nhẹ hơn 't' trong tiếng Anh.
