Cách phát âm
Ký tự ら đại diện cho âm tiết 'ra', âm 'r' nhẹ kiểu Nhật theo sau bởi 'a' như trong 'father'. Âm 'r' tiếng Nhật là âm vỗ — lưỡi chạm vòm miệng một lần, ở giữa 'r', 'l' và 'd' tiếng Anh. Đây là ký tự đầu tiên của hàng ら.
