Cách phát âm
Ký tự え đại diện cho âm nguyên âm 'e', phát âm giống như 'e' trong từ 'pet' hoặc 'bed'. Đây là một trong năm nguyên âm cơ bản của tiếng Nhật. Âm này ngắn và rõ ràng — không kéo dài trừ khi được nhân đôi rõ ràng (ええ) hoặc kéo dài bằng い (えい).
